The contract to build 440MW combined cycle power plant in Elektrenai, Lithuania was signed in 2009.
The purpose of this state-of-the-art structure was to guarantee an uninterrupted power supply to Lithuania after the closure of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant. Major components for Elektrenai Power Plant were built by General Electric which included 9FB series turbine and heat recovery steam generator.
World Logistics Services Corporation was contracted to provide logistics services and storage for the components of the afore mentioned power plant, including cargo reception at the Port of Klaipeda, Lithuania. Some of the over dimensional components received and transported by WLSC exceeded 300 metric tons each, which required hydraulic gantry system, hydraulic platform trailers and specialized railcars.
